More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop #2

Aaaahhhh! It’s been months since I last wrote a book review! The moment I finished reading the first book, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, I was anxious and excited at the same time in reading the second one!

It continues the journey of the characters connected to the second-hand bookshop named Morisaki. It is evident because it is real life. The sorrow, joy, life story of each character, and everything in between. It made me realized the main point of the story – how important you express your thoughts and feelings. Our perceptions of people often differ from their true selves. It’s as if we view them through the eyes of our own experiences rather than seeing them as they genuinely are.

I may have even enjoyed this one more than the first! Perhaps it’s the blend of nostalgia with a grief-stricken story, along with the way the characters made a strong comeback, that really moved me. This is the absolute definition of comfort. I just hope that it was written a tad bit longer.

Some inspiring quotes from the book:
“There were places I wanted to go and people I wanted to see. And there was a place that was always ready to welcome me back.
I can’t think of anything more wonderful than that.”

“When I’m sad, I read. I can go on reading for hours. Reading quiets the turmoil I feel inside and brings me peace. Because when I’m immersed in the world of a book, no one can get hurt,”

“People forget all kinds of things. They live by forgetting. Yet our thoughts endure, the way waves leave traces in the sand.”

There are absolutely NO CATS in this book. Not a single one. Yet, the cover features two, and the first book, “Days at the Morisaki Bookshop,” had one as well. I assume this is linked to the trend of Japanese literature often showcasing cats. Since there’s no cats from the 2 books, let me just add my 2 cats then! :D
