My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologies | By by Fredrik Backman

The first time I came across this book, I was already captured by the title, especially since I am very close to my grandmother—whom I lovingly call “Apong.” The story felt so personal to me and it hits close to home. I feel truly honored and blessed to have shared such a wonderful grandmother-granddaughter relationship, and I can honestly say that Apong was my best friend. She always defended me to my mother when I was little, and I even slept beside her more often than with my Mama! :D She loved to sit and play with us, her grandchildren, and our favourite treat during those days was ‘bukayo! I have so many beautiful memories with my Apong, and I can’t help but smile every time I remember her.

This was another beautiful story by Fredrik Backman, ‘twas so touching, humorous and all about family – not just by blood, but how those that live around us have their own stories, which eventually weave together with yours and shape your sense of family over time. Reading this book feels much like making a new friend – by slowly getting to know them and then suddenly realizing they have found their way into your heart.

I wish I could give a highest rating than 5!📚✨

Here’s my loving and beautiful Apong – my late grandmother and grandfather together with my Mama and brother. (I wish I could find our photos together with my Apong.) Seeing this photo makes me yearn for her and miss her so much!
